Please display your civic number properly:
• In a position of high, year-round visibility (consider winter conditions when placing the number);
• On the same side of the road as the building to which the number applies;
• In a color that contrasts with the building, mailbox or signpost to which the number is attached reflective numbers
are best;
• At least 1.2 meters ( 4 feet ) off the ground, if placed on a civic number signpost or mailbox. The mailbox should be used only if it is on the same side of the road as your home. If the number is on a signpost, then the post should be placed where the driveway meets the road. Never attach a civic number to road signs, telephone or “hydro” poles;
• In a location that is visible to vehicles travelling in either direction or facing directly where it can be seen from the road;
• In regular numbers (i.e. 42), not words or roman numerals;
• In a size large enough to be seen easily from the road.
• If the number is located on a signpost or a building within 15 meters (49 feet) from the roadway, it should be
at least 65 millimeters (2.5 inches) in height;
• If the number is located on a building 15 meters or farther from the roadway, it should be not less than 100
millimeters ( 4 inches ) in height.
